The Unified Sports event was held at the Aman Foundation’s Head Office, at the finale of the Aman Sports Gala 2017. In light of the shared values between the organizations, Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP), NOWPDP, and The Aman Foundation came together to encourage the inclusion of disabled people in all the opportunities present in Karachi.
Project SHAHPAR, launched during the Unified Sports event, is an initiative that will attempt to reduce this disparity in opportunity. In collaboration with SOP and NOWPDP, Aman Tech will provide vocational training to select intellectually challenged people. The instructors at the institute have been specially prepared to impart their knowledge unto these new students. Efforts are being made by the current student body and managerial staff to collaborate flawlessly with the new inductees.
Winning teams and individuals who participated in the Aman Sports Gala received trophies during the award ceremony.
Special-needs talented athletes demonstrated their sportsmanship in a football match between them and Aman employees. Their achievements were celebrated along with a few words of encouragement by representatives of the respective organizations.
The event was held to create awareness of the challenges faced by the disabled people in Karachi and work towards creating a system of support and equal opportunity. Social exclusion and disparity has caused a stigma to be associated with the existence of disabilities in people. The aim of socially active organizations like the ones mentioned is to remove this stigma overtime.
Ahmad Jalal, CEO, The Aman Foundation encouraged the special athletes to focus and work harder, and they will eventually realize their dreams.
