Sindh Rescue and Medical Services
Sindh Rescue and Medical Services (SRMS) has had a transformative impact on the lives of people residing in the urban city of Sindh, Karachi. SRMS that commenced in October 2018, has been able to address emergency cases through the fleet of life-saving ambulances. Launched by the Government of Sindh and Aman Health Care Services, this initiative has completed over 221,981 life-saving interventions. Sindh Rescue and Medical Services Ambulances has performed 40+ successful deliveries en-route, saving lives of mothers and newborns. The service has enabled the urban population to benefit from emergency medical services that match global standards. The collaboration with the government will ensure further expansion of the successful SRMS project to other untapped areas of interior Sindh as well as Karachi.
Sindh Rescue and Medical Services (SRMS) Ambulances are run on international protocols, equipped with the latest medical equipment and life-saving drugs and is staffed with trained medical professionals. The service provides a tiered emergency response system with Basic Life Support Ambulances and Advanced Life Support Ambulances equipped with AED machines, cardiac monitors, portable ventilators etc. which is a unique service available in Karachi.
SRMS Command and Control Centre is powered with real-time tracking and a wireless communications network, the service aims to:
- Stabilize and transport patients from the site of injury or illness to the nearby hospitals in Karachi
- Address common emergencies such as cardiac arrest, accidents, injuries, and obstetric emergencies
- Reduce the incidence of loss of life due to inadequate emergency response
