This year, in a better state of preparedness and in line with the Meteorological Department’s predictions, the Aman Foundation held 12 awareness sessions across communities in Karachi. These sessions were aimed at informing people about the risks associated with the imminent heat wave and the recommended response protocols.
These sessions were then followed by visits of our community workers to households within these communities.
Locations where the sessions were held were various localities in Bin Qasim, Landhi, Korangi and Malir Town.
Through 250 of Aman’s community health workers, the number of people these sessions reached out to directly is 800,000. As an indirect potential impact, it is estimated that the sessions will create awareness among some 1.1 million people.
The Aman Foundation will also be setting up Aman Relief Camps across 15 locations in Karachi, from 30th May to 5th June.
In a city with a population of 23 million, we need more hands on board to safeguard precious lives against the heat wave.
Please join hands with Aman to beat the heat. To help us you can sign up to volunteer at our camps, or make a contribution to support the relief effort.
